About us

Who We Are

Maidensgrove Group Riding for the Disabled Association is an independent local Charity, affiliated to the
national Riding for the Disabled Association incorporating Carriage Driving.20150424_101006

Where We Are

We hold our riding sessions at, The Grove Riding School, Lane End Road, Lane End, High Wycombe, Bucks. HP14 3NR (“the Grove”) – see Location.

We own one horse Frank – see our Horse, and we hire horses and ponies from The Grove.

What We Do

We enable children and adults, who have disabilities, to ride a horse, under qualified instruction,
leading to RDA Proficiency Tests and Achievement Awards.   We aim to combine a friendly, happy atmosphere with positive forms of therapy and tuition, tailored to each Rider’s individual capability.
We find that they obtain great enjoyment from this and, perhaps, the key benefits of improved self-confidence
and pride in their achievements.20150424_101521

Who Helps Us

We have a marvellous team of about 45 Helpers, whose principal role is to help the Riders.
There are also 5 qualified RDA Coaches who use much ingenuity to organise different teaching activities and games.

Everyone gives their time, voluntarily.   Would you consider joining us?   To find out more and how you might help, see Volunteers.

Our History

Our Group was founded in 1978.   We were then based at Maidensgrove Farm, near Henley-on-Thames.
In 1983, we moved about 4 miles to Turville Valley Stud, Turville, where we spent 18 successful years, before moving to the Grove.
We became an independent Charity (Registration No. 1074410) on 25 February 1999.
